他们过年主要吃年糕

年糕确实不陌生

炒年糕炸年糕都是我的最爱
Sautéd and fried rice cakes are my favorites
不过他们吃年糕的做法跟我们不太一样

他们把糯米做成年糕
They first make the cake with glutinous rice
加入焦糖

放在蒸笼中蒸上一整天

Speaking of new year custom in Myanmar
我们首先要知道缅甸的华人华侨
We need to know that the Chinese migrants in Myanmar
基本上来自于云南 广东和福建这三个省
Mainly come from three provinces in China: Yunnan, Guangdong and Fujian
他们主要分布在缅甸仰光市和第二大城市曼德勒市
And most of them live in Yangon and Mandalay, which is the second biggest city in Myanmar
他们跟我们在国内一样
Just like what we do in China
除夕夜要举行祭祖仪式
They worship ancestors on new year's eve
然后全家围坐在一起吃团圆饭
And enjoy family reunion dinner together.
这跟我们国内的过年习俗差不多啊
Sounds just like what we do in China
是的都是华人文化圈
Yes, the Chinese cultural circle
习俗上当然会有很多共同点
Share a lot of similarities
不过也还是有所区别的
But still, there are some differences
我们都知道缅甸是一个信仰佛教的国家
We all know that Myanmar is a Buddhist country
在缅甸的华人
Local Chinese
一般会像国内一样在大年初一穿上新衣服给亲朋好友拜年
Would put on new clothes and pay new year call to family and friends on the first day of the new year
而拜年的时候呢
And when greeting family and friends
又习惯拱手合十
They would put palms together
互致“吉祥如意”
And say "wish you good luck and happiness"
这个行礼方式确实和我们不一样
That is different from what we do in China
我们拜年一般都是拱手作揖
We usually cup one hand in the other before chest and make obeisance when we pay new year call.

About 0.6 meters long, and in white color
古时用来遮住脚
In ancient times, its purpose is to cover the feet
现在则变成一种特色
And today, it is a national costume

Which is similar to the long sleeves in Yong Opera of Nanning
